Bologna 3Z: “Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy” and the CAPaware Project Presentation, 23 September

Bologna 3Z: Stories of Change Through Cinema, People and Social Economy, the free public cultural programme promoted by Fondazione Yunus Italia ETS as part of Bologna Estate 2026, continues its journey. Following the screening of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind on 9 June and the “Voices of Migration: Belonging and Inclusion” Living Library on 2 July, the series, inspired by Muhammad Yunus’s “Three Zeros World”, zero poverty, zero unemployment, zero net carbon emissions, reaches its third event.

23 September: a look behind the curtain of consumption

On 23 September, at Fondazione Yunus Italia’s headquarters in Via d’Azeglio 48, Bologna, the programme will screen Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy, a documentary directed by Nic Stacey. The film is narrated by an unusual voice: an artificial intelligence, which guides viewers through five chapters exploring the mechanisms that drive modern consumption.

From the artificial creation of needs to planned obsolescence, including the dynamics of fast fashion, from the myth of recycling to environmental and social costs that often remain invisible: the documentary builds its narrative through first-hand accounts from the people who designed these very systems, including former executives from Amazon, Unilever and Adidas.

A theme that speaks directly to Fondazione Yunus Italia’s mission: rethinking economic development models by placing people and planetary boundaries at the centre, in line with the vision of Social Business and the Three Zeros World.

“Sustainability Starts with Food”: the CAPaware Project Presentation

Before the screening, the Foundation will present CAPaware, a European project co-funded by the CERV Programme in which Fondazione Yunus Italia takes part, aimed at helping citizens understand the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the tool through which the European Union supports the farming sector while promoting sustainability, innovation and rural development across member states.

Through participatory activities aimed at citizens, young people, farmers and local authorities, CAPaware works to close the awareness gap that still keeps much of the European public distant from common agricultural policies and their real impact on food, the environment and rural communities. A theme directly connected to the environmental pillar of the “Three Zeros World”: sustainability is not only about emissions, but also about how we produce and distribute food.
